Allison McDermott was raised and trained as a stilt walker at the Oddfellows Playhouse Children’s Circus of Middletown in Connecticut. As an adult, Allison continued her education in the New England Center for Circus Arts’ Professional Track Program, where she studied aerial hoop and hand balancing. After her graduation from NECCA, Allison returned to Connecticut where she trains circus, performs circus, teaches circus and... yes, does mostly all things circus.
Allison serves as the lead trainer for Circophony, a youth circus company in Middletown, CT and coaches at Thrive Movement Studio in Harwinton, CT. She is currently touring as Emilie du Chatelet in ARTFARM’s Sir Isaac Newton’s Little Apple Circus and is a regular at Madame Thalia’s Vaudeville Revue. This year Allison presented two new original Circus works; Cycles, a circus collaboration with Matica Arts and This is Artstagram! A theater-Circus hybrid! She is looking forward to sharing both shows with the world!
